In an effort to understand current practices in Deaf Interpreting and Deaf Interpreting Education, the NCIEC conducted three studies:

• National Deaf Interpreter Survey
• Focus Groups of Deaf Interpreters
• Focus Groups of Deaf Interpreting Educators

The NCIEC is also looking at the effectiveness of current Deaf Interpreter training activities across the United States.  The results of those studies will be reported here when they are completed.

A research project titled ”An Observational Study of the Current Practices of Deaf Interpreters in Five Courtroom Locations Across the United States“ is currently being conducted by the Ventura County Court of California with the support of a RID Research Grant. The development of the observation protocol in use in this study was funded by the NCIEC. We will be able to link to those findings when they are available.
