DB-TIP has designed the first ever online webinar series devoted to deaf-blind interpreting! The webinar series is structured in three levels with five webinars per level. All webinars and levels build upon previous sessions so it is in the best interest of the participant to take them in succession.

Webinar Series Details

Earn CEUs from home:

It’s never been easier! At the completion of the webinar you will be given links to two brief surveys that must be completed. Upon completion your CEUs will be processed by Signs of Development, Inc., an RID CMP approved sponsor. You do not need to do anything else. Your confirmation email will stand as proof of your registration.

Earn CEUs offline:

In the event that you are not available for the specific day/time that is scheduled, the webinars will be archived and can be viewed in an asynchronous manner, meaning you can view them offline and still earn CEUs.

CEUs per webinar:

You will earn CEUs per webinar, not per level. Therefore, you can take individual webinars without having to attend the entire level. However, you may choose to view webinar sessions offline so that you can earn the entire amount and continue to build your knowledge on deaf-blindness.

CEUs per webinar session: .15

CEUs per level: .75

CEUs for the entire seres (levels I, II & III): 2.25

Technology requirements:

The only requirements to join the webinar sessions are a computer and high-speed Internet connection. There are no downloads or requisite software in order to attend. You simply have to log on with your secure log-in identification.

Schedule:

Webinars will be held on specified Saturdays at 11am EST and will be 90 minutes in length:

Level I: 9/18/10, 9/25/10, 10/9/10, 10/16/10, 11/13/10

Level II: 1/22/11, 1/29/11, 2/5/11, 2/19/11, 3/5/11

Level III: 4/2/11, 4/9/11, 5/14/11, 5/21/11, 6/4/11

Cost:

Each individual webinar session is $29.99 or you may choose to register for an entire level (five webinars) for $119.99  – pay for four webinars, get one free! All payments will be handled through an easy online payment system, PayPal.

Registration:

In order to attend a webinar you must complete the registration form. Please send an email indicating your interest and the link to the registration form will be sent.

CEUs:

Professional CEUs will be credited at .15 per webinar session, .75 per level and 2.25 for the entire three level series. CEUs will be granted only upon completion of the requisite evaluation documentation and submission of name and RID number.

It is the intention of DB-TIP to assist interpreters in building their knowledge base regarding deaf-blindness that will assist in all interpreting scenarios and interactions with Deaf-Blind people.

All content in the webinar sessions is taken directly from the wisdom and direction from Deaf-Blind people. Thank you for joining us on this journey. We look forward to your participation!

Overview: The Staff Deaf Interpreter provides professional, quality

interpreting services to SignOn’s customers while participating in a

collegial, supportive atmosphere with the SignOn Team.

Requirements:

*  Experienced Deaf Interpreter: Certified (CDI) preferred

*  Documented experience working with minimal language Deaf

individuals, non-standard ASL/sign users, and with monolingual

Deaf clients

*  Minimum of 500 hours interpreting experience in various legal and

mental health settings

*  Preferred Deaf-Blind interpreting experience (if none, must

complete training by December 2010 at your own expense)

*  Five-years of experience mentoring, coaching, teaching language

and culture with certified hearing interpreters preferred

*  Experience developing Deaf interpreters preferred

Duties:

*  Be available 30 hours per week to provide part-time staff

interpreting services (Guarantee of 24 hours paid per week)

*  Work schedule will vary from day to day depending on interpreting

demand (priority); this tends to vary from zero to full days;

unless the staff DI is on an interpreting assignment or in the

field mentoring interpreters they will be expected to be in the

office available to interpreters and administrators

*  Remaining time will spend working with SignOn management

providing website support, professional development to staff -

workshops, mentoring, etc. – and whatever is deemed necessary and

appropriate for the benefit of SignOn and its staff interpreters.
