			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The National Task Force on Deaf-Blind Interpreting (NTFDBI) has a position open for a Certified Deaf Interpreter.  This position is an official RID position and this person would be the RID CDI representative to the NTFDBI.</p>
<p>The following is a description of the roles and responsibilities of Task Force members.</p>
<p><strong>Position Description for NTFDBI Members</strong></p>
<p>The National Task Force on Deaf-Blind Interpreting (NTFDBI) is a task force whose mission is to establish a standard of effective practice to ensure the quality and availability of interpreters for deaf-blind people.  The NTFDBI is comprised of a demographically diverse group of deaf and hearing interpreters, deaf-blind people, interpreter educators and others, all of whom have a vested interest in quality interpretation and interpreter education that will impact deaf-blind people on a national level.</p>
<p>Expectations of Task Force membership are:</p>
<p>·         Personal and/or professional involvement and expertise in deaf-blind interpreting,</p>
<p>·         Ability to work with a group of people on issues pertaining to deaf-blind interpreting on a national level,</p>
<p>·         Ability to attend one to two face-to-face meetings per year and/or participation in monthly or bi-monthly conference calls,</p>
<p>·         Regular and substantive participation in online discussions,</p>
<p>·         Timely responsiveness to emails and online correspondences, and</p>
<p>·         Commitment to group work on projects leading to larger goals and timely follow-through.</p>

Mentoring program is offering Certified Deaf Interpreters an amazing opportunity to live and work in this challenging environment, exploring best practices through dialogue with colleagues, workshops, and hands on practice.</p>

You already have (or will buy) So You Want to Be an Interpreter: An Introduction to Sign Language Interpreting by Janice Humphrey and Bob Alcorn. Please read this book prior the workshop.</p>

<strong>FOR:</strong> Certified Deaf Interpreters, state screened and working Deaf interpreters, Road to Deaf Interpreting graduates, ITP graduates, current interpreting students<br />
and any Deaf interested in becoming one. **<br />
<strong>WHEN:</strong></p>
<p>Thursday, December 6, 2012 – 6 pm to 9 pm<br />
Friday, December 7, 2012 – 9 am to 5:30 pm Saturday, December 8, 2012 – 9 am to 5:30 pm Sunday, December 9, 2012 – 9 am to 12 pm noon</p>
<p>(Must attend ALL 4 days/times to receive certificate of completion upon the end of the training)<br />
<strong>GOALS:</strong> Part I focuses on the theoretical and conceptual base of the Integrated Model of Interpreting (aka the Colonomos Model) in a low stress environment. The training offers specific language to discuss interpreting work. Part II focuses on the expansion and application of the theoretical and conceptual base of the Integrated Model of Interpreting (aka the Colonomos Model) presented in Part I. Opportunities for practice will be provided during both parts using ASL, Contact Signs (PSE) and Gestures.</p>

<li>Fun off-campus field trips for hands-on ASL mentoring in the real world.</li>
<li>Working with other mentors to practice giving feedback.</li>
<li>Get paid for providing six weeks of distance mentoring between June 18 and July 30!</li>
