The National Task Force on Deaf-Blind Interpreting (NTFDBI) has a position open for a Certified Deaf Interpreter.  This position is an official RID position and this person would be the RID CDI representative to the NTFDBI.

The following is a description of the roles and responsibilities of Task Force members.

Position Description for NTFDBI Members

The National Task Force on Deaf-Blind Interpreting (NTFDBI) is a task force whose mission is to establish a standard of effective practice to ensure the quality and availability of interpreters for deaf-blind people.  The NTFDBI is comprised of a demographically diverse group of deaf and hearing interpreters, deaf-blind people, interpreter educators and others, all of whom have a vested interest in quality interpretation and interpreter education that will impact deaf-blind people on a national level.

Expectations of Task Force membership are:

·         Personal and/or professional involvement and expertise in deaf-blind interpreting,

·         Ability to work with a group of people on issues pertaining to deaf-blind interpreting on a national level,

·         Ability to attend one to two face-to-face meetings per year and/or participation in monthly or bi-monthly conference calls,

·         Regular and substantive participation in online discussions,

·         Timely responsiveness to emails and online correspondences, and

·         Commitment to group work on projects leading to larger goals and timely follow-through.

Mentoring program is offering Certified Deaf Interpreters an amazing opportunity to live and work in this challenging environment, exploring best practices through dialogue with colleagues, workshops, and hands on practice.

What things should a Deaf interpreter do to ensure high quality interpreting services? What kind of interpreting assignment is the Deaf interpreter qualified to perform? -On Sunday afternoon, the participants would do practices for the written test.
